SBI field agents provide expert investigative assistance with criminal cases when requested by local police, sheriffs, district attorneys, and judges. In addition, crimes are investigated for which the SBI has original jurisdiction (drugs, arson, gambling, election fraud, and crimes involving state property) as well as investigations to suppress organized crime and vice activities.
More than 200 field agents and clerical personnel serve in eight
district offices across North Carolina.
Field Operations include: SBI Field Procedure, Field District Operations, and
special investigation units in Arson, Polygraph, and Crime Scene Search.
