On Saturday, February 14, 1987, Pamela Michelle Murray disappeared from the parking lot of the Asheville Mall in western North Carolina.  Her body was discovered later that same Valentine's Day on River Road, an isolated section located just past the Asheville Recreation Park.

Ms. Murray's Oldsmobile Toronado was used to transport her to the River Road area.  It appears that she was shot while attempting to flee whoever was assaulting her.  Her Oldsmobile vehicle was returned to the Mall but parked in a different section of the Mall parking lot from where the abduction took place.
