RALEIGH — On Wednesday, the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police recognized Attorney General Jeff Jackson as a “Friend of the Order,” citing his dedication to supporting law enforcement officers, honoring fallen officers, and building trust between the Department of Justice and North Carolina’s officers.

“Supporting law enforcement is an important part of the mission of the Department of Justice,” said Attorney General Jeff Jackson“I appreciate the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police’s recognition, but more than that, I appreciate their work to fight for our state’s law enforcement officers. I look forward to being great partners.”

“For his integrity, humility, and genuine partnership in advancing the mission of law enforcement, the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police is proud to recognize Attorney General Jeff Jackson as a true “Friend of the Order,” said Chet Effler, State President of the North Carolina State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police.

Since taking office in January, Attorney General Jackson has been a staunch advocate for the law enforcement community in North Carolina. He has regularly met with state and local law enforcement to discuss challenges they’re facing and find ways for DOJ to support police departments and sheriff’s offices across the state. He’s also advocated for legislation to provide bonuses and salaries to law enforcement and allow North Carolina officers to continue serving after they reach retirement without forfeiting the payments they are entitled to as retirees.

The Department of Justice works with law enforcement to prosecute select criminal cases and defend convictions of criminals who have harmed our communities.

Attorney General Jeff Jackson continues to push for solutions to law enforcement staffing shortages to help ensure that officers are not overworked and can do their job to the best of their ability. He has also held various law enforcement roundtables around the state to collaborate on addressing major public safety threats facing North Carolina and to make sure he is doing everything in his ability to effectively advocate for them.
