Summer Internships

If you are interested in a legal career or law enforcement, the Department of Justice and State Crime Lab offer a variety of internship opportunities for students.

Legal Internships

Each summer, the North Carolina Attorney General's Office selects law students to serve as legal interns. As a legal intern, your work assignments would include drafting appellate briefs, attending hearings and depositions, and organizing and drafting discovery responses.

Legal interns have the opportunity to interact with judges and lawyers, and attend a series of outside events, including a visit to the State Crime Lab.

Although these internship programs are unpaid, the department strongly encourages you to seek academic credit or financial assistance through grant programs.  For more information on the legal internship program, contact
