Attorney General Josh Stein announces $6.6 billion more in agreements with opioid makers

Attorney General Josh Stein and a bipartisan group of attorneys general announced two additional agreements in principle with a drug manufacturer to address the opioid crisis. The proposed settlements would require former opioid maker Allergan to pay up to $2.37 billion to participating states and local governments and Teva to pay $4.25 billion. Attorney General Stein has secured more than $34 billion nationally to help fight the crisis.

Attorney General Josh Stein Leads New Nationwide Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force

Attorney General Josh Stein is leading the formation of a nationwide Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force of 50 attorneys general to investigate and take legal action against the telecommunications companies responsible for bringing a majority of foreign robocalls into the United States. This bipartisan nationwide task force has one goal: to cut down on illegal robocalls.

Attorney General Josh Stein Provides Sexual Assault Kit Testing Update

Attorney General Josh Stein announced a new record of hits in the CODIS DNA database: 1,211 hits. That is a nearly 18 percent increase from the previous fiscal year and means that – thanks to increased testing – law enforcement has more ability than ever to move forward on cases. In addition to announcing this milestone, Attorney General Stein has launched a statewide sexual assault kit tracking dashboard at www.ncdoj.gov/testthekits.

Attorney General Josh Stein Fights to Protect North Carolinians from Forever Chemicals

Attorney General Josh Stein has been a national leader in the fight against PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals.” He filed two new lawsuits against manufacturers of Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF), a fire suppressant that contains PFAS, and the companies that produce the PFAS-containing components in AFFF, including DuPont, Chemours, and 3M.
