(RALEIGH) Attorney General Josh Stein released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision today on DACA.
“For the second time this week, the Court has gotten it right. The Dreamers were brought here as kids and want to help us make the United States a better place. Now they can do so without the fear of deportation. I am proud to have been part of the team that defended their right to stay in the United States legally.”
North Carolina is home to approximately 27,000 DACA grantees, and there are approximately 800,000 DACA recipients across the country. DACA grantees pay $63,618,000 annually in state and local taxes in North Carolina as the Institute of Taxation and Economic Policy has detailed. [itep.org]
