Attorney General Stein Stops Deceptive Online Retailer

Release date:
10/24/2017

(RALEIGH, NC) – Attorney General Josh Stein today announced that he has taken retailer eRummagers to court to stop the company’s alleged unlawful conduct including deceptive business practices. The North Carolina Department of Justice brought the suit against eRummagers after receiving consumer complaints of unfair and dishonest conduct. Attorney General Stein won a temporary restraining order in the Wake County Superior Court.

“Businesses must keep their promises to consumers,” said AG Stein. “My office will not allow a company to take North Carolinians’ hard-earned money and fail to deliver on their promises. We will hold companies that attempt to rip off North Carolina consumers accountable.” The online retailer is accused of failing to deliver purchased goods and refusing to refund customers when their orders are not completed. When consumers posted complaints on eRummagers’ Facebook page, the posts were deleted and the consumers blocked from making additional posts. Unfilled orders date back to November 2016.

eRummagers operates as an online retailer of a wide range of merchandise.  The Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina has given the company an “F” rating.
