Drug Chemistry
Scientists in Drug Chemistry perform the analysis of evidence from criminal investigations such as drug possession, poisonings, and clandestine laboratories. State-of-the-art instrumental techniques such as infrared spectroscopy and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry are used to analyze items of evidence.
The majority of cases involve the identification of methamphetamine, followed by cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl.
