The North Carolina Department of Labor is warning employers and businesses about a solicitation involving the sale of North Carolina labor law posters.
Recently, a company called Personnel Concepts has been contacting employers in North Carolina to sell posters that publicize North Carolina’s labor laws and information for employees. The company is telling employers that they will be in violation of state law if they don’t purchase these posters.
While the Department of Labor does require employers to display labor law posters with information about occupational safety and health laws, state wage and hour laws, and workers’ compensation and unemployment insurance information in workplaces, these posters are free. You should not pay for them. You can order the posters from the Department of Labor’s website at no cost.
This company is employing a variation of a common imposter scam, threatening you with legal consequences if you don’t give them your money. If you have been or are contacted by this company, do not feel pressured to buy a labor law poster. Report them to NCDOJ’s Consumer Protection Division online or by calling 1-877-5-NO-SCAM.
