Pitt County is looking to hire quality deputy sheriffs to join our team.  Pitt County, N.C. is 652 square miles with 10 municipalities.  We are located 90 miles from the beach and just 78 miles east of Raleigh, our state capital, allowing easy day trips to either.  Our population is about 180,000.  We are the proud home of the Pirates of East Carolina University.  We are a large agency, but we have a small family feel.

Each deputy is provided a take home patrol car, comfortable uniforms with an outer vest carrier, body worn camera, rifle, mobile data terminal, and other quality equipment.  Opportunities exist for extensive training and for career advancement.  Well-groomed facial hair is allowed.

Minimum salary with no experience is $43,000. The rate of pay will increase based on years of service, to be negotiated at the time of offer. In addition, deputies will also be granted a pay increase for the state issued Intermediate and Advanced Certificates upon hire or once they are obtained post hire.  Great county benefits apply, including state retirement, health insurance, 401K, and much more.  Overtime contract work opportunities exist.

The current needs are on patrol and as school resource officers, however possible assignments within the office include Community Patrol Unit, Court Security Unit, Community Impact Unit (School Resource Officer), Civil Enforcement Unit, Electronic Monitoring Unit, K9 Unit, Major Crimes Unit, Special Operations Unit, Environmental Enforcement Unit, Airport Security Unit, Forensic Services Unit, Training and Standards Unit, and Domestic Violence Unit.
