To perform command-level supervisory work directing the daily operations of the police department’s Communication Division and Investigations Division.  Applicants must be able to work calmly under stressful conditions and be able to endure physical & emotional fatigue.  Applicants must be able to prepare concise records & reports and be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, subordinates, and the public.  Applicants will be responsible for monitoring the progress of ongoing criminal investigations as well as the activities within the Tarboro Police-Fire Communications Center.  Serving in this capacity includes the ability to maintain the agency’s Information Technology infrastructure.  Applicants are required to live within a 30-mile radius from the corporate limits of the Town.  Applicants must be 21 years of age and have a valid NC Driver’s License with a good driving record.  Completion of a four-year degree in Criminal Justice Administration is preferred or completion of high school supplemented by basic and advanced courses in police science, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Past supervisory experience within a law enforcement organization is required.  Certification as a law enforcement officer through NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission or NC Sheriff’s Education and Training Standards Commission is also required.  Salary scale for this position is $57,507 to $86,261.  Applications can be downloaded from our website, www.tarboro-nc.com.  This position will remain open until filled.  Interested candidates should submit applications to:  Town of Tarboro, Attn:  Human Resources, PO Box 220, Tarboro, NC  27886
