The Youngsville Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Patrol Sergeant. A Youngsville Police Sergeant plans, organizes, and manages the overall command of law enforcement activities and critical incidents during each patrol shift in order to preserve public peace, protect lives, property and rights of the public, and enforce state laws and municipal ordinances. This position effectively serves as watch commander for two patrol teams and is third in command within the department’s organizational structure. The working hours of this assignment are typically split between patrol shifts and are flexible depending upon staffing and department needs.
Minimum Training and Experience: This position requires a High School Diploma/GED (Associate’s Degree preferred) and 5 years of law enforcement experience. At least one year of supervisory experience is required, and three or more are preferred. An Intermediate Law Enforcement Certification and First Line Supervision training (or equivalent) are also required. Applicants will be considered who have equivalent combinations of these requirements. Applicants for this position will undergo a rigorous evaluation process to include, written examination, panel interview, role playing exercise, in-box exercise, and completion of the Police Officer Physical Abilities Test (POPAT).
The Town of Youngsville offers a competitive benefit package to include health, dental, vision, NC retirement and 401k. The hiring range for this position is $45,656.00-68,484.00 depending upon qualifications.
