Understanding how to report and learning more about the experience can take away some of the unknowns and help you feel more prepared. If you want to learn more about the options in your area of North Carolina, you can do so through the <a href=\"https:\/\/nccasa.org\/get-help\/survivor-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> including consulting their <a href=\"https:\/\/nccasa.coalitionmanager.org\/contactmanager\/contact\/publicdirectory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">database of local sexual assault providers in NC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I report sexual assault?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You have several options for reporting sexual assault:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Call 911.<\/strong> If you are in immediate danger, dial 911. Help will come to you, wherever you are.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contact the local police department.<\/strong> Call the direct line of your local police station or visit the station in person. If you are on a college campus you may also be able to contact campus-based law enforcement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Visit a medical center.<\/strong> If you are being treated for injuries resulting from sexual assault, tell a medical professional that you wish to report the crime. You can also choose to have a sexual assault forensic exam.
