Bringing Justice to Cold Case Sexual Assault Survivors

Bringing Justice to Cold Case Sexual Assault Survivors: 2025 Cold Case Symposium.

The North Carolina Department of Justice (NC DOJ) will present a two-day symposium on December 4th and 5th to advance the investigations and prosecutions of cold case sexual assaults.

Cold case sexual assaults are among the most complex cases in the criminal justice system, requiring specialized investigative strategies, advanced forensic tools, and strong interagency collaboration. Each successful investigation not only secures justice for survivors but also plays an important role in preventing future crimes.

North Carolina  professionals will engage in the specifics of sexual assault cold cases and be exposed to relevant approaches to the successful investigation and prosecution of these crimes. This summit builds on the experiences of law enforcement, prosecutors, advocates, and other experts who have taken this challenge.

Please see NC DOJs Sexual Assault Kit Tracking Dashboard for real time updates.

Who should attend: Detectives, Prosecutors, Supervisors, Advocates, Judges, College & University Staff, SANEs, and Counselors involved in the investigations and prosecutions of Cold Case Sexual Assault.
