Release date:
4/25/2017

(RALEIGH) Attorney General Josh Stein today wrote President Trump strongly urging him to reconfirm the United States’ commitment to the critically needed Paris Agreement to address climate change.  In the agreement, all countries vowed to work to address climate change and limit carbon emissions. Climate change is a threat to national security, the economy and our health and well-being.

“Our children and grandchildren deserve clean air, clean water and a healthy climate,” said AG Stein. “Failing to uphold the Paris Agreement would represent a major setback to our efforts to promote clean energy, protect people’s health and guarantee our national security.”

In the letter, AG Stein and 13 other attorneys general urged President Trump to maintain the United States’ commitment to the groundbreaking agreement.

Joining today’s letter are the attorneys general of Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Maryland, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, the District of Columbia and American Samoa.
