The Sheriffs’ Commission is proposing modification to its administrative rules which requires a public rulemaking hearing and a period of time to allow public comment. This amendment adjusts the cost for purchasing a Basic Law Enforcement Training manual from the NCJA.
This amendment sets out the specific topics which must be covered in Annual Firearms Qualification courses.
This amendment provides the training specifications for deputy sheriffs and detention officers who are authorized by the sheriff to carry a handgun. It removes the adoption by reference to the Basic Enforcement Training Course for firearms qualification.
This amendment provides that deputy sheriffs and detention officers who fail to qualify pursuant to Rule .2104 of this Section shall immediately surrender their weapons to the sheriff, or authorized representative upon his request, and shall have 30 days in which to obtain the qualification score required in 12 NCAC 10B .2104.
